Matthew Griffin
Owner/Director
Matthew Griffin founded 6House Web Design in 2003 and has been the primary owner and art director ever since. He is also the author of an online web design magazine called Mirificam Press.
History and Philosophy
Since 6House Web Design was started in 2003, Matthew Griffin has combined a solid design philosophy and worldview with progressive web design techniques to produce beautiful, effective websites. The result is a long list of satisfied clients both in Midland / Odessa, Texas and around the world. Matthew eventually codified his principles of web design into two lists—the six houses of web design technique and the six houses of web design philosophy.
The Six Houses of Web Design Technique
- 1. Standards Websites that conform to industry standards are easier to update, faster loading, display correctly in more browsers, and degrade gracefully.
- 2. Style Every design must incorporate a style that is both industry appropriate and culturally insightful.
- 3. Organization Well planned organization of the information that will fill a design ensures that the end user can find what they need.
- 4. Layout After the information has been organized, a fitting layout must be chosen to effectively convey that organization.
- 5. Function Websites should do something. Six House specializes in dynamic websites that store and retrieve information using PHP/MySQL.
- 6. Findability A well organized, well designed website with the most intuitive layout in the world does no good unless people can find it.
The Six Houses of Design Philosophy
- 1. Purpose Oriented Design implies purpose. Every web project should have a clear vision that drives all of the decisions about style, organization and layout.
- 2. Relational Websites are used by real people and they should be designed like it—honest, direct, and relational.
- 3. Ethical A designer without an overarching sense of ethics is unpredictable. Six House Design holds fast to the Christian system of ethics in every facet of business and design.
- 4. Excellent No project is worth doing unless it can live up to the technical standards of the web design industry.
- 5. Balanced Every design project requires some form of balance in order to be successful. Function and form, content and style, beautiful and useful—an appropriate balance must always be struck.
- 6. Progressive Web design is an act of creation, not a recycling of a commodity. Each project presents new challenges that must be met and overcome creatively.

LeaveTheCamera.com Redesign Complete
For the last few months 6House has been working on a website redesign for LeaveTheCamera.com, an innovative photography group in Midland, TX. The purpose of the design was to focus more on local business and the quality of service.

6House Launches Websites for JMR Industries and Energy Sales, LLC
This week 6House Design released two new websites. JMR-Industries is a surface equipment rental company for the oil and gas industry. Its sister company Energy Sales, LLC is a manufacturer representative for oil and gas product sales. Both sites employ an organic style combined with well-organized grids. These sites are good examples of 6House's flexibility in design application. 6House is now hosting and managing both sites.

6House Design Launches OnlineLandTrading.com
After months of design and programming, 6House Design is proud to announce the launch of a unique website call OnlineLandTrading.com. OnlineLandTrading.com is a service for land owners which allows them to post their property online for other land owners to see and possible trade for. The services is absolutely free and offers helpful dynamic features such as automated email notifications when new property is added to the site. In the coming months, 6House Design will be assisting OnlineLandTrading.com in an aggressive marketing campaign to get the word out about the site.

NoticeToOwner.com Officially Launched
This week marks the first week of official operation for NoticeToOwner.com. The site provides an automated legal document builder for Texas building contractors and sub-contractors who are having trouble getting paid for labor and materials. NoticeToOwner.com was designed and programmed from the ground up by Six House Design. In order to complete the project, Six House Design built a unique document management system for the client along with a custom credit card gateway interface for easy credit card transactions.
